Distribution: Central Bearded Dragons inhabit much of the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and North Western parts of Victoria.
Appearance: Bearded Dragons are named for the distinctive flap of skin which lies below their jaw. When threatened, these lizards assume a defensive posture, opening their mouths and pushing their throat skin forward to make this 'beard'
Temperament: Bearded Dragons are pretty docile and gentle animals, however can be flighty and wary of handling unless they are hand raised and treated with care.
Feeding: Adult Bearded Dragons should be offered insects 2-3 times per week, with fresh fruit and vegetables available daily, Juvenile – Sub Adult Bearded Dragons should be offered insects every 1 - 2 days and fresh fruit and vegetables offered daily and Hatchling Bearded Dragons should be offered insects 2 – 3 times per day and again fresh fruit offered daily. Insects and food should be dusted with calcium and vitamins alternatly every second feed for Hatchlings - Juveniles - Sub Adults - Adults.
