CRICKETS

Get your Crickets at the same place we do.

Great value for money and posted right to your door.

Profits go directly to benefit frogs.

Save the frogs and feed your lizards at the same time.

It's important to be careful not to feed crickets that are two big to your lizards,
paticularly bearded dragons.

A general rule to follow is not to let them eat crickets that are longer than the distance bettween your dragons eye's.
Just to be sure smaller is always the safer option.

As a guide:

For our hatchlings we get 1day old or 3 day old crickets ordered in.

For our young bearded dragons we get 15 day old crickets ordered in each week.

And for our adults we get the 2/3 size which we recomend over the adult and 1/3 size crickets.

Orders are processed on Sundays and Posted out on Mondays.

We recommend going Express Post.
Your not likely to have as many or if your lucky any die in the post and they will arrive on the Tuesday.

If your not home they will just be left on your
door step.

So you have your crickets and there are more than you were expecting.

Your lizard won't eat all of them at once, what do you do with all the crickets??

Make them last.

Depending on the size of your lizard or how many lizards you have is to how many crickets you order and how long you want them to last.

You can make the crickets last '1 week' or '2 weeks' any more than that is possible but takes more effort .

Because you want the crickets to last for the week or even 2 weeks you cannot just leave them in what they were transported in as they will most likely die.

What we do and what we recommend doing is:

Get a plastic garbage bin or tub, only cost around $10

Egg carton, sponge, some carrot, apple and potato.

When you get your crickets place them in the plastic garbage bin with the egg cartton parts they came with and some extra ones cut similarly as this gives the crickets lots of needed floor space.

It helps to keep the crickets in a warm spot, if they are too cold it may cause them to die.
Heat mats set on about 25C can be used to keep them warm.

Take out any dead crickets you see straight away if possible as when crickets die they give off a gas that will kill other crickets (yes a couple of crickets will likely die don't panic)
this is why it's not worth trying to keep them past a two week period.

Once the crickets are in the plastic bin slice some carrot, apple and potato and place it in for them to eat
(not too much, it's better to do small amounts more often so they get it fresh)

The crickets will get most of their needed moisture through eating the carrots and potato
but if you like you can put a small damp sponge in.
(crickets drown easy that’s why sponges work well, make sure the sponge is not too wet)

Here is a photo to give you a rough idea of a set up.

OK so it seems like a lot of effort. It's not really, and you will save money doing it this way for sure, and as these crickets are the same ones breed to save endangered frogs they are of the highest quality.
